The banner of the flag wavers

The flag waving of modern days sees its origins in the "dance of the insignia", that took place on the occasion of a religious festivity in the Piceno, at least until the 1500s.

Currently the flag wavers of the Quintana don't exhibit exclusively during the historical procession and the exhibition in the Field of the Games, but they have a specific competition reserved for them, in the days that precede the joust.

The first choreographers of the flag wavers were Danilo Ciampini and successively Gianni Nardoni. Since 1988 they take part in competitions of singles, couples, and teams of the flag wavers of the various Sestieri.
